Agata Stepien Performance

A performance video is a short note of movement, emotions and memory. Edited by the author, Agata Stepien, using an analog camera and the stop motion method, it shows the life of a background shadow.
A woman (N. Ehrhardt), by means of choreography, ritually evokes in the form of a shadow what is not obvious, what is ’’subcutaneous", unclear and marginal. The function of art should be interpreted here as a manifestation of what is not obvious, and the artist s search is based on examining the intimacy of women and the extremes of intimate transgression through interpretive and psychoanalytical research, philosophy and the broadly understood humanities of our time.
The artist uses art as a way to emphasize her fear, and defines the process of creation as an act of absorbing emotions. In this way, her work becomes very intimate and constitutes an attractivemotivation for the viewer. In her works, reflections focus on the body as an object of artisticactivity, at the level of creative physical transgression, circulating in search of answers to questionsabout the limits of body image and artistic freedom in the context of contemporary culture. Theartist’s center of interest is the body as an experimental zone, the influence of power, the concept ofownership subject to constant changes, and places where one can define one's own subjectivity.... "They are" silent beings "who keep me company."

The multiple image of the woman's movement disappears in the gesture figure. Thus, exposing them to the danger of being a vision at times real, at times abandoned or distorted. The power of the body manifests itself in the body's own territory, what defines us, and our natural right to it. Without having to dominate or be dominated. My work is closely related to the moon cycle, i.e. the female cycle. Works are most often performed during the full moon.
